Since AGAPE first opened more than 40 years ago, there have been expansions, changes, growth, and developments each year to better meet the needs of men and women facing unplanned pregnancies. In recent years, we have continued to expand our “Wholistic” approach to meet the whole person where they are: body, mind, spirit, and soul.

We meet people in need of healing: physically, emotionally, and spiritually broken people that God brings to our doors.

We meet them at their physical needs by providing licensed medical care.

We meet them at their economic needs by providing tangible support, resources, and referrals to secure and create stability for their family.

We meet them at their educational needs by providing the teaching and tools to learn parenting and life skills.

We meet them at their community need by providing relationships, support, and connection so that they know they no longer are alone.

Meeting each person at their greatest insufficiencies allows us the opportunity to introduce them to the ultimate Healer, Jesus Christ.

Dawn and Brandon’s story demonstrates why it is so important to capture every moment and invest in a “lifetime legacy” encounter.

Dawn is standing in the AGAPE lobby. At 17, she cannot believe that this is happening to her. She is afraid. More than anything, she is afraid to tell her parents and youth group that she is pregnant. Dawn thinks, “I know one thing is true: I am having this baby.”

This story started twenty-five years ago. God began a mighty work within Dawn and Brandon… and AGAPE was there. Today, twenty-five years after this first encounter, I gaze into Dawn’s office and marvel at how she is now working at AGAPE both as our nursing educator and accounts specialist. Dawn understands what it feels like to be standing in the lobby and the impact of one moment that happened yesterday and how that “yesterday moment” can profoundly impact our today and our tomorrow.

As for Brandon, he did stay, he did work, and he has been there for Dawn, their children, and now their 4 grandchildren, too!

Common stories like these are why it is so crucial to provide opportunities for every client, meeting their insufficiencies and providing them a path to a better today and a changed tomorrow. This can be our legacy ONLY if we are here. We are allowed to see the multi-generational impact of changed lives today and for years to come! Hebrews 13:8 says, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Jesus never, ever changes.

AGAPE is here, sitting on a corner, in a neighborhood that any investor would reject and “no one” would choose. We continue to meet, we continue to grow, and we continue to expand because we are here. We are not perfect like Jesus. We do not meet like Jesus. We do not see like Jesus, but we know Him and He knows us. He is changing us, and He is working to make us more like Him every day to meet, see, and know like Him.

To me, the physical building is a picturesque representation of my God. He is here for us yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Our ongoing presence provides our clients with great comfort. We never move. They tell their friends, their family members, and others in need – “if you need help, go to the place that is and has been there since we can remember: a place called AGAPE.”
