A 34-year-old professional sat with her head down in one of our counseling rooms, waiting for her results. She shared that she had found herself in an unplanned pregnancy as a young teenager. Her parents, being very religious, were ashamed to have a daughter in this situation and forced her to have an abortion at a local clinic. She had never been able to have a child since and had walked away from God and the church.

She sat with tears streaming down her face as we told her she was expecting a child. “Why would God give me a child? I have walked away from Him and my faith. I have been so angry at God. Why would He give me such a gift? Why would He bless me when I have used none of my life to bless Him?”

Because this is our God. The God of second chances. The God who has held every tear that you have ever cried within His hands. The One who has been waiting to hold you in His arms. The God who never left you.

Every day is a gifted reminder of how God can truly redeem every story because of Jesus’ life. His story is now our story. No matter what our past, He is our future and our hope.
